“शौर्यं तेजो धृतिर्दाक्ष्यं युद्धे चाप्यपलायनम्।”

Means valour, courage, determination, skill and steadfastness in the face of challenges are the qualities of a true warrior.

As a Param Vir Chakra receiver, I have had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary strength that discipline, determination and a sense of duty can bring out in an individual. My association with Good Day Defence New Sainik School, Hanumangarh, is rooted in the belief that these values must be nurtured in young minds long before they encounter life’s defining challenges.

Dear Cadets, remember that courage is not demonstrated only in moments of great adversity. It is reflected in the choices you make every day: the discipline with which you follow your routine, the honesty with which you accept your mistakes, the perseverance with which you overcome setbacks, and the respect you show to your teachers, peers and fellow cadets.

A strong nation needs more than capable individuals. It needs people of character who can lead with conviction, work as a team, make responsible decisions and place a larger purpose above personal convenience. Academic excellence, physical fitness, emotional resilience and moral integrity must therefore grow together.

As your Chief Mentor, I encourage you to approach every challenge as an opportunity to learn, every responsibility as a chance to demonstrate your character, and every ambition as a commitment to work harder. Do not measure your progress only by the victories you achieve, but also by the setbacks you overcome, the people you support and the principles you refuse to compromise.

At Good Day Defence New Sainik School, I hope to see every cadet develop the confidence to dream boldly, the discipline to pursue those dreams and the courage to stand by what is right. Whether or not you choose a career in the Armed Forces, the values of duty, honour, service and selflessness will guide you towards becoming responsible citizens and leaders who contribute meaningfully to India’s future.

Dear Cadets, build a character worthy of trust, develop a spirit that refuses to give up, and carry the honour of your nation in everything you do. The future of India will be shaped by the choices you make today.

Jai Hind!
